Dean Holland's Fatal Accident in Australia

Dean Holland's fatal accident in Australia

The racing world mourns the death of Australian jockey Dean Holland, who survived a crash in Monday's opening race at Donald Racecourse.

The European racing community was informed on Monday morning that 34-year-old Australian jockey Dean Holland had died after a crash at Donald Racecourse in Western Australia.

He failed the conference's first Test, as did Alana Kelly. Rescuers immediately treated the two, but he could not be rescued. In the case of Alana Kelly, she escaped unscathed.

The meeting was canceled after the accident and staff launched an investigation.  Dean Holland has more than 1,075 wins in his career, including a 2010 victory over Small Minds in the Schweppes Oaks Division I. Just last month he signed for his second Group I title at Flemington.
Victoria Racing Managing Director Andrew Jones said: “Donald had a tragic accident today and we are all deeply shocked and saddened to hear that Dean has passed away from his injuries.
Terrible news and a sobering reminder of the great courage of the jockey." Our condolences go out to his partner Lucy and their four children.
